OverviewJob Title: Substation Design Engineer - 400kVLocation: Various National Grid Sites (UK)Contract Type: PermanentReports to: Design/Project EngineerAre you an experienced Substation Design Engineer with a strong background in 400kV transmission projects? This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the design and delivery of high-voltage substation infrastructure across National Grid sites, ensuring designs meet the highest safety and compliance standards.ResponsibilitiesLead or support the design of 400kV substation layouts, electrical schematics, cable routing, and earthing systems.Ensure all designs comply with National Grid Technical Policies (TPs) and Technical Specifications (TSs).Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, including civil, protection, and control engineers.Prepare and review design documentation such as Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangements (GAs), and equipment drawings.Interface with National Grid's design approval processes, including DRN and IDC/IDR reviews.Conduct site surveys and provide technical design support during construction and commissioning.Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and all relevant health and safety legislation.Qualifications & ExperienceDegree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).3-5 years' experience in high-voltage (HV) substation design, with specific knowledge of 400kV systems.Demonstrable experience working on National Grid projects, with knowledge of NG standards and processes.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bentley Substation, or similar design software.Strong understanding of the UK Grid Code, NG standards, and IEC/BS standards.Please apply with an up-to-date CV for more information.We can only accept candidates who have the Right To Work in the UK
