We’re looking for a driven engineer who thrives on automating tasks that fail regularly. Responsibilities
- Design and implement automation for production support activities, including alert triage and resolution flows.
- Reduce testing cycle time from seven to three weeks through creative automation strategies.
- Explore and implement deployment automation and streamline QRM-related alerts.
- Build intuitive UIs for visualizing product and support status, if needed.
- Partner with existing team members to reverse-engineer domain knowledge into reusable automation components.
- Identify repetitive manual tasks and apply DevOps practices to eliminate them.
Skills
Must have
- Ab Initio Expertise: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Ab Initio, including: Control > Center; Plans and scheduling; Graph development and execution; Business Rules Environment (BRE).
- Scripting Skills: 2 to 10 years of experience in at least one of the following: Python programming, PowerShell scripting, or similar.
- Automation Mindset: Demonstrated passion for continuous improvement and automation of repetitive or failure-prone processes.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to identifying root causes and implementing robust fixes.
- Communication: Ability to clearly document and communicate automation strategies and outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
The role is very open-ended, and the engineer will have the ability to influence technology and architecture. Good experience in more of the relevant skills below will be highly regarded:
- Support Experience: Appreciation for production support environments, common failure patterns, and recovery strategies.
- DevOps & CI/CD Tools: Experience with one or more of: TeamCity, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Artifactory, Octopus Deploy.
- Cloud & Containerisation: Familiarity with AWS EC2, Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code.
- Microservices & API Development: Expertise in microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
- Programming Frameworks: Experience with ASP.NET Core and C#, or alternatively Java/Python.
- Monitoring & Alerting Tools: Experience with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
- Database Skills: Experience in database design and programming using MSSQL or Oracle, or similar.
- AI Exposure: Experience or interest in applying AI to business and technology processes.
- Security Awareness: Exposure to tools such as SonarQube, Checkmarx, Snyk.
