The role

As a Planning Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most critical defence programmes, supporting the Royal Navy’s continuous at-sea deterrent. You’ll work on cutting-edge technology that safeguards national security, while developing your career in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll support the Ministry of Defence by identifying and scheduling submarine maintenance activities and resolving planning issues.

  • Identify and define maintenance data and work required for future submarine maintenance periods
  • Resolve planning and scheduling ambiguities to ensure project clarity
  • Liaise regularly with internal and external stakeholders to maintain accuracy and quality
  • Build and maintain the indicative planning schedule (key date schedule)
  • Support the MoD’s In-Service Submarines (ISM) Project team

    • This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

    Essential experience of the Planning Engineer

  • Proven experience in a planning or engineering environment
  • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience building and maintaining schedules
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow
  • Proficiency in MS Office or Primavera P6

    • Qualifications for the Planning Engineer

  • An engineering qualification (e.g. NC/HNC/HND) or demonstrable relevant experience
  • A planning qualification or equivalent industry experience

    • Security Clearance

    The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
