OverviewOver the past ten years, Octopus Energy Group has expanded from a UK startup to become the UK's largest energy provider and a global leader, serving over 10 million customers across eight countries.The Analytics Platform team is brand new to the company and is tasked with consolidating analytics tooling and building a strategy for consistent data modelling across all our global businesses. We are building a platform that each country can plug their data into and get consistent data to be used to optimise customer journeys for each region or metrics at the global level by the group management team.Our mission is to build a platform for analytics where:Producers can build efficient pipelines from source data to insight with easeProducers can scale out Modelling & BI to any number of Octopus Energy businesses around the worldProducers can provide insight via: notebooks for detailed storytelling; dashboards for live updates on a domainConsumers can find what they’re looking for with ease and have trust in the metrics and dashboards presentedConsumers can self-serve if needed and retrieve data via automationWhat you’ll doBuild, document and consult on: using dbt to model analytics for business domains using a data mesh frameworkCharts and dashboards using modern BI toolsComprehensive testing frameworks using tools like dbt_expectations and elementary to ensure data qualityData governance and documentation strategy to improve data discoverability and drive a consistent approach across teamsBuild robust CI/CD pipelines for testing and deployment of AE and BI modelsBuild monitoring and alerting tools for gathering insight on AE performanceQualificationsRequired – Languages: SQL (Advanced), Jinja (Advanced)Required – Tools: dbt Core, Git, a Cloud data warehouse provider (e.g., Databricks, GCP, Snowflake)Nice to have – Languages: PythonNice to have – Tools: GitHub, Lightdash, Elementary, CircleCI, Databricks, Airflow, Kubernetes, DuckDB, Spark, Data Modelling Techniques (e.g., Kimball, OBT)Why you’ll love it hereSalary discussions are open with recruiters; Octopus aims to match experience with a fair, flexible salaryUnique culture with autonomy and co-owners, recognised as a top place to workVisit our UK perks hub – Octopus Employee BenefitsOur process usually takes up to 4 weeks, but we’ll flex around what works for you.
