The Role As an Application Support Engineer, you’ll join our expanding Engineering team to support, deploy, and enhance critical applications for UK Defence and Government clients. You'll perform tasks such as deployments, patching, and upgrades, and play a pivotal role in our mission to provide robust, high-quality support services. Working closely with Envitia’s engineering team, you’ll ensure seamless operations and effective problem resolution, stepping up to 3rd or 4th line support when required. This role requires site attendance at customer locations in the Southwest of England when necessary, with the rest of the time remote. Due to the security needs of our clients, security clearance will be required. Job Responsibilities
Become rapidly familiar with Envitia’s solutions and maintain currency on them and the associated technologies relevant to their in-service support. Self-sufficiently perform installation and support tasks such as system deployment, regular health-checks, log inspections, patching and upgrades as required. Perform reactive and pro-active support tasks as required, escalating where SLAs or other quality risks are encountered. Update, communicate and manage support tickets promptly. Maintain associated in-house reference systems. Maintain support documentation building a knowledge base to improve service delivery resilience. Build good working relationships with Envitia’s customers, enhancing our reputation with them. Keep Account Manager’s updated on customer sentiment, personnel changes and opportunities from customer contact time.
Skills Required Essential:
Deployment and hosting of applications on corporate Linux and/or Windows environments
Experience with typical containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes, Hashicorp, Nomad)
Highly desirable
Knowledge of typical geospatial data platforms (e.g. Geoserver, FME, ESRI, and other open-source geospatial visualisation tools) Experience of common integration challenges such as IDAM connections and supporting applications (e.g. Keycloak) Scripting language, typically Powershell
Desirable
Hosting of applications in typical Cloud or Virtualised environment such as Azure, AWS or VMWare. Ability to interpret logs using tools such as ELK or Splunk a bonus.
Security Clearance Requirements The successful candidate must be eligible to go through a SC level security clearance. Location The role will be required travel to clients in the South West (Taunton, Corsham) when required and occasional visits to the Envitia Horsham offices.
