As an Applications Engineer, you'll play a vital part in ensuring customer orders are delivered on time and to the highest standards. Your background may be in technical sales, planning engineering, or process engineering — but what we're really looking for is your attention to detail, your ability to read and understand technical drawings, and to plan the relevant processes within manufacturing. Using these skills, you'll translate sales orders into efficient manufacturing routes, ensuring work is right first time, within budget, and fully aligned with customer requirements. What you'll be doing: Define and plan manufacturing processes for machined components
Identify materials, heat treatment, and testing requirements to meet customer standards
Liaise with sales and other departments to ensure smooth workflow
Create route cards and instructions for production teams
Look for improvements that maximise efficiency and reduce waste
Work with suppliers and subcontractors to keep projects on track
What we're looking for: Applications, process, planning or technical sales engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD data
Knowledge of international material and dimensional standards (ASTM, ISO, BS, DIN)
Familiarity with processes such as CNC machining, forging, heat treatment, coatings, and testing
Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail
Confident with MS Office
Package and benefits: £40,000 – £50,000 salary
Monday to Friday, 40-hour week (typical pattern: 7.30am – 5.00pm Mon–Thurs, early finish Friday)
