Associate Wastewater Process Engineer – WSPOverviewJoin to apply for the Associate Wastewater Process Engineer role at WSP. You will be part of our Water Engineering teams, delivering process engineering design content on a range of wastewater and water reuse projects in the UK and overseas. You will work within multidisciplinary project design teams to contribute from feasibility and optioneering through to procurement and construction support, and review supplier proposals.What you will doProduce Process Design deliverables such as optioneering studies; process calculations, mass balance, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, basis of design reports, etc., to achieve the optimum solution for the project.Undertake outline or detailed process engineering design.Attend site visits for data acquisition and to meet site operators.Provide technical input to the procurement process.Support Project Managers in technical discussions with clients.Liaise with technology providers and vendors.Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SWIFT sessions.Provide technical guidance, coaching and supervision of junior staff.Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver multi-disciplinary projects on time, to budget and to quality, ensuring integration of Process Engineering design requirements.Contribute to proposals, scope, schedules and budgets; liaise with clients to meet their needs.QualificationsA Chemical or Environmental Engineering degree or MSc (or equivalent).Professional registration as CEng (or working towards Chartership within 12 months).Skills and ExperienceSignificant experience delivering process engineering design on infrastructure projects, including leading process engineering on a project or major task.Experience in the municipal water industry.Ability to prepare and review process design package deliverables with minimal supervision, including technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, process control philosophies, P&IDs, mass balances and procurement documentation.Experience delivering studies, feasibility studies, concept designs, FEED and detailed design for wastewater treatment solutions in municipal or industrial sectors (e.g., primary/secondary/tertiary treatments and advanced treatments).Understanding of circular economy, Zero Liquid Discharge, and emerging tertiary treatments in municipal and industrial sectors.Experience in a consultancy or engineering firm environment as a Process Engineer.Proven ability to prepare high-quality written technical reports and deliver presentations to varied audiences.Confident, articulate communicator for professional verbal communications and presentations to colleagues, clients and subcontractors.Experience leading multidisciplinary meetings and acting as the technical representative with external clients.Willingness and ability to travel to operate and construction sites, safely assessing process performance.What we offerWork-life balance with hybrid working options; flexibility to work from home part of the week and in modern offices across the UK.
