Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of AWS-based Databricks workspaces for a data programme. Ensure platform security, governance, and compliance within UK data protection standards Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and clinical teams to enable smooth onboarding and efficient use of Databricks. Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) best practices (e.g., Terraform/CloudFormation) for consistent and repeatable deployments. Manage networking, authentication, and role-based access controls (RBAC) across NHS environments. Drive monitoring, performance optimisation, and cost management for Databricks and AWS services. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to setting engineering standards and best practices.
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on expertise with AWS cloud services (VPC, IAM, S3, EC2, Lambda, etc.). Knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance frameworks relevant to highly regulated environments. Proficiency in infrastructure automation tools (Terraform). Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Desirable Skills
Experience in setting up and managing Databricks workspaces in enterprise or regulated environments. Previous experience working within healthcare or public sector organisations.
