Overview

Role: Backup and Storage Engineer

Location: Hybrid (3 days/week onsite)

We are working on behalf of a Global financial services client to design, implement, and maintain backup and storage infrastructure. The candidate should be proficient in designing architecture solutions and responding to critical system needs during operating hours. Strong hands-on implementation and maintenance experience, and the ability to design architecturally scalable, secure, and efficient storage solutions. Takes ownership of the entire storage and backup domain within the organization. Specialist in tools such as Avamar, Rubrik, and Veeam, with automation scripting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement storage solutions for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments
• Ensure data storage meets regulatory, security, and compliance requirements
• Evaluate new storage technologies and recommend improvements
• Troubleshoot storage and backup system issues
• Create and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies to prevent data loss
• Monitor storage systems performance and optimize capacity and costs
• Automate backup processes to meet recovery time and recovery point objectives
• Document processes and train internal teams on storage best practices

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in backup and storage management as a hands-on architect
• Solid in-house experience within Financial services or commodities, with at least 5 years in the sector
• Knowledge of NetApp and Pure Storage systems (SAN, NAS, Object storage)
• Expertise in Python, PowerShell, Ansible, and Git
• Extensive data protection experience with Dell Avamar, Rubrik, and Veeam backup solutions
• Deep understanding of storage capacity planning and performance optimization
