BMS Design Engineer

The Role: As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for all design works including AutoCAD drawings on multiple concurrent BMS projects. This will include liaising with consultants, clients, project managers, installation and commissioning teams as required. A drive and commitment for monitoring operational cost control, performance and continual improvement is essential.

Specifically, you will: Liaise with Sales at new project handover and feedback cost/design issues throughout the project. Use the clients project management package (ArchDesk, training will be given) to track your project's design progress. Ensure routine project tasks like Tech Subs and Main Plant RFI's are submitted and tracked in a timely manner. Read and comment project technical specs, highlighting issues to Sales and/or the client and ensuring compliant panels are designed and costs controlled. Ensure plant and personnel safety is inherent in your designs, even where not specifically requested. Liaise with software engineers to have Des Ops, Software and Graphics completed and tracked in a timely manner. Creation of spec. compliant, safe and on budget BMS panel drawings using AutoCAD, for client approval. Liaising with consultants and clients in a polite, professional and helpful way during the approvals process. Completion of AutoCAD electrical schematics and panel layouts for production, to the clients drawing standards. Liaising with client, production and the test department to ensure a professionally made and safe BMS control is delivered in a timely manner. Be able to deal with technical queries from production, handle constructive criticism and work as a team to achieve the best result, whilst monitoring costs. Be able to produce BOM's to suit your panel design and ordering equipment on a ‘just in time' basis to reduce poor cash flow. Be able to check and consult on colleagues work and give constructive criticism and work as a team to achieve the best result, whilst monitoring costs. Be able to review your panels during production to ensure standards are maintained and the design is as intended, whilst monitoring costs. Be able to complete ‘as built' drawings from workshop or site markups and maintain ‘good housekeeping' with regard to all project documents. Take an active role in controlling costs at every opportunity. About You:

The ability to co-ordinate and delegate within a team whilst remaining operationally hands on, with the capability to co-ordinate daily activities. A methodical approach and the ability to manage and prioritise workload and tasks. The ability to manage change within a complex and growing operational environment.
