OverviewChemical Process Safety EngineerWiganMonday - Friday 8am to 4pmUp to £70,000My client, who is a leading manufacturer within polymers and synthetic resins, is seeking an experienced Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their team.The RoleProviding Technical Safety support to the Site to ensure effective implementation of process safety and other regulatory requirements whilst observing risk management processes. This includes providing support under the DSEAR & COMAH regulations in the UK.ResponsibilitiesProduce Technical Safety/process engineering deliverables as required in support of the business.Develop safety engineering philosophies, design HSE plans, safety specifications, equipment specifications.Chair and participate in formal process safety assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL target setting studies, generate study reports and manage subsequent actionsLead HAZID and SIL studies.Input to, and participation at, project design assurance reviews such as P&ID reviews, Constructability reviewsHazardous area classification following industry codes and guidanceDevelop and implement functional safety management plansProduce and review specifications, data sheets, schedules, study reports, and design calculations; ensuring that they conform to engineering quality, competence, and project management systems.Provide technical support to projects and sites as required.Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement.Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislative changes, initiatives and industry technology developmentsThorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of process safety and environmental engineering methodologies, software systems, and design practices as they relate to FEED, Detail Design, Construction, Commissioning, and plant Start-up.Awareness of international codes and standardsThe CandidateSkills/Knowledge/ExperienceEssentialMinimum of 5 years relevant senior experienceProficiency in process operationsExcellent verbal and written communications skillsDemonstrable knowledge of COMAH, DSEAR, latest Risk Assessment Techniques and other Health and Safety legislation applicable to BitrezAbility to work independently as and as part of a teamAble to multitask and be self-drivenPositive outlook and clear focusTechnically proficient in all areas of process safety and loss prevention (e.g. HAZOP, PHA etc)Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPointKnowledge and experience of relevant H&S and Environmental LegislationDemonstrate knowledge of Bases of SafetySound knowledge of manufacturing improvement strategies and approaches (e.g. Six Sigma, Lean, FMEA etc.)Experienced and effective problem solver, leading problem-solving teams both cross-functional and within Production, Engineering and Technical functions providing analytical solutions & effective actionsDemonstrable experience of leading safety studies (HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA)DSEAR risk assessment experienceDesirableQualifications in process safety related subjectsQualificationsEssentialDegree in an appropriate Engineering DisciplineChartered Chemical EngineerApplicants must have the rights to work in UKQualification in process safety related subjectsBenefits33 days - includes bank holiday entitlementCompany Pension - Company contributes 3% and the employee contributes 5%Healthcare - Eligible for BUPA cover after 6 months probationary period.Please contact Marie Brisson at Winsearch UK for further information.Winsearch acts as an employment agency for permanent staff.
