SummaryThe Chief Engineer will oversee all engineering departments in the company. This position will manage the oversight and growth of the mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineering groups. Additionally, this position will require personnel management for meeting technical and schedule goals across all disciplines. This role will be customer facing, so communication skills and customer interactions are required. A leadership role in the company, the Chief Engineer will be tasked with understanding hiring needs, projecting schedule and budget, and concisely conveying that information to the leadership team and board.Essential FunctionsThe general expectations will include, but not be limited to the following:Management of the individual engineering groups focused on unmanned maritime systems in the undersea and surface domainsHiring plans for growth of the engineering department given current and projected needsUnderstanding of the overall technical goals for individual programs and the ability to make decisions about performance metricsUnderstanding internal R&D programs to assist in technology transition into active and future programsPresenting status and projected needs for engineering group to meet company goals to leadership team and boardSupervisory ResponsibilityThis position will supervise additional members of the design and engineering department.Work EnvironmentThis position requires time spent on the shop floor and exposure to shop elements including noise, moving parts, dust and fumes. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
