Civil Design Engineer

Location: Bristol • Hybrid working available

Salary/ Pay rate/ Benefits: Up to £50 per hour or £50,000- £55,000 per annum + Benefits

Hours of work: Up to 40 Hours Per Week • Monday–Friday 9:00–5:30pm

Overview

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to work on the design of nuclear powerplants, as well as our future pipeline of projects. You will provide your civil expertise to successfully deliver our projects, in collaboration with clients, contractors, stakeholders and our project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical leadership and team management to deliver work packages effectively.
  • Coordinating and communicating on complex engineering problems between project stakeholders.
  • Providing technical review and responding to site queries and requested changes in a dynamic environment to support contractor activities on site.
  • Conduct and review analysis of structures carried out in FEM packages (experience in using Ansys beneficial).
  • Provide technical oversight of reinforcement detailers and review detailing models and drawings.
  • Provide expert oversight and technical direction to teams completing the design of reinforced concrete structures.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Support the business development team during the tendering process for future projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered with the ICE, IStructE, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in the use of ANSYS or equivalent structural FEM software.
  • Experience in reinforced concrete calculation and design.
  • Working familiarity with relevant technical Codes of Practice and Industry Standards (Eurocodes, British Standards, ETC-C or applicable codes).
  • Proactive, collaborative, and able to work within a multicultural team.
  • Agile and self-motivated, with a focus on improving personal and team performance and generating innovative outcomes.
  • Experience on major infrastructure projects and ability to deliver high-quality work packages to schedule.
  • Willingness to learn, take responsibility, and support others within the team.
  • Experience in a highly regulated UK industry (e.g., nuclear).

Desirable

  • Programming skills in one or several languages.
  • Experience in the use of ANSYS or equivalent structural FEM software.
