The Water Utilities Division is the centre of excellence for UK and Ireland water and wastewater challenges, delivering services throughout the full project life cycle and providing diverse and technically stimulating opportunities.

Overview of the role: We cover all phases of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning to handover. We provide specialist technical support to colleagues across our global business with opportunities to work on diverse and technically challenging projects for UK water utilities and other organisations. Examples of projects include the Leeds flood alleviation scheme, carbon management tools for Wessex Water, High Speed Rail 2, Thames Tideway, and strategic pipelines for Anglian Water.

We work on a wide range of design projects including water treatment, water distribution and storage, wastewater recycling, industrial process water, desalination, irrigation, hydropower, and flood defence.

Responsibilities

  • Work across multiple UK and Ireland water companies as part of multi-disciplinary design teams in project delivery.
  • Prepare design submissions to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Undertake studies, concept, preliminary and detailed design work.
  • Collaborate with clients and other stakeholders.

Candidate specification

Essential:

  • Civil Engineering degree
  • Water and/or wastewater engineering design experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental considerations
  • Proactive approach with adaptability to changing scenarios

Desirable:

  • Working towards Chartership
  • Strong digital capability
  • Project management experience not essential but beneficial
