Job Title: Gas/Mechanical Engineer Location: Colchester office, covering Essex, London, Kent, and Cambridgeshire Salary: £45,000

£50,000 depending on experience We are seeking an experienced Gas/Mechanical Engineer to join our clients team, based out of their Colchester office. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied role, working across commercial and domestic sites to deliver high-quality installations, maintenance, and reactive repairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking both planned and emergency works on heating, hot water, plumbing, and mechanical systems. We are looking for a qualified engineer with commercial gas certifications, strong plumbing and HVAC skills, and a proactive, problem-solving approach. Key responsibilities include: Installation Install commercial gas appliances including boilers, heaters, burners, and CHP units

Fit and commission mechanical plant such as pumps, heat exchangers, and pressurisation units

Complete pipework installations for gas, water, heating, and drainage systems

Install hot and cold water systems, unvented cylinders, and booster sets

Fit commercial plumbing fixtures including toilets, sinks, showers, and urinals

Install and test flue systems in line with regulations

Commission new heating and plumbing systems

Maintenance and Servicing Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on gas and mechanical systems to SFG20 standards

Service and test gas appliances, including combustion analysis and tightness testing

Maintain heating systems, radiators, valves, and expansion vessels

Service ventilation systems and building management controls (BMS)

Inspect and clean strainers, filters, and pumps

Maintain hot and cold water services, tanks, and pipework

Reactive and Emergency Repairs Diagnose and repair faults in commercial gas and mechanical systems

Respond to heating, hot water, or gas supply failures

Resolve leaks, blockages, and burst pipes in plumbing systems

Reset and recommission failed systems

Carry out emergency isolation of gas or water services when required

What we offer: Competitive salary of £45,000

£50,000 dependent on experience

On-call rota with £140 weekly retainer (currently 1 in 6)
