ROLE: CommercialGasEngineer

SALARY: Up to £47,000 DOE

LOCATION: Midlands and North

THE COMPANY:

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Gas Engineer to join our client’s growing team. This field-based role involves Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), servicing, repairs, and occasional installations of commercial gas systems across a varied portfolio including hotels, government buildings, schools, court facilities, and office sites. While your primary focus will be the North of England, national travel may occasionally be required to provide sickness or holiday cover. You’ll be part of a professional and supportive engineering team with a non-call rota of 1 in 9 (nationwide).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct PPM, servicing, and repair on commercial gas appliances in line with SFG20 standards
  • Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs on systems including boilers, burners, pumps, controls, AHUs, and pipework
  • Perform occasional installations to meet compliance and safety regulations
  • Respond to emergency repairs during working hours and as part of the on-call rota (1 in 9)
  • Maintain detailed and compliant serviced documentation for audit purposes
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed, with appropriate PPE and site safety protocols
  • Collaborate with the wider team and escalate technical issues where required
  • Advise clients on safe appliance use and best practices

The Candidate / Requirements

  • Valid ACS Commercial Gas Certifications (e.g., CODNCO1, CIGA1, CDGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1A, BMP1)
  • At least 5 years of experience working with commercial gas appliances and systems
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostics skills; BMS/control knowledge is beneficial
  • Full, valid UK driving licence
  • High level of health and safety awareness
  • Professional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Organised, efficient, and capable of managing workload across multiple sites
