Commissioning Engineer - Industrial Steam Boilers

Location: Ideally based in the North West, Midlands, or North East UK

Salary: £49,000 basic | OTE £70,000-£75,000+ (including overtime, weekends, travel, and overnight stays)

What You'll Be Doing

As a Commissioning Engineer (or Commercial Gas Engineer), you'll take charge of commissioning large, high-performance steam boiler systems at industrial sites across the UK. Your work will include:

• Leading commissioning activities on-site for complex steam boiler installations
• Collaborating with project managers and contractors to deliver successful, on-time handovers
• Testing, fault-finding, and calibrating systems using advanced diagnostic tools and control software
• Providing technical support post-commissioning, helping clients resolve issues and fine-tune performance
• Regular UK travel, with all expenses covered - including accommodation, travel, and meals

What We're Looking For

• A background in commissioning industrial boilers, plant equipment, or large mechanical/electrical systems
• Relevant qualifications: HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, plus commercial gas ACS (COCN1)
• Strong problem-solving skills and confidence working with diagnostic and control systems
• A clear communicator who can work well with clients and colleagues alike
• Willingness to travel, stay away overnight, and occasionally work weekends
