About ToffeeX
At ToffeeX, we’re building a new generation of engineering design software. Our cloud-based platform combines physics simulation, generative design, and optimization to re-think how engineers design components like heat exchangers, cold plates, and manifolds. Trusted by some of the world’s most advanced engineering teams, we help companies to engineer better products faster.
Since our founding in 2019, we’ve grown rapidly and recently moved into a new Central London office. We were named one of the UK’s top 100 startups by Startups.co.uk in 2025.
The Role
Location: On-Site (Hybrid), London
Experience Level: Junior, Mid-Level, and Senior Roles available
Reports to: Customer Success Lead
We’re looking for a Computational Design Engineer to help our customers (and prospects!) solve complex thermal and fluid flow problems using ToffeeX.
This is not a “follow the process” role. As part of a small, high-trust team, you will take ownership of difficult technical challenges, guide customers in applying our cutting-edge tools, and help to shape the future of our product. You will work across our engineering teams, interfacing with R&D, product, and customer success and be hands-on in both engineering and software.
What You’ll Do
Work closely with our customers to understand their needs and workflows and help them apply ToffeeX to real-world engineering design challenges
Share user insights with our product and R&D teams to guide feature development
Build technical resources, including tutorials and case studies
Test new product features and help to shape product usability
Travel occasionally (up to 20%) to customer sites or industry events in the UK, Europe, and beyond.
Who We’re Looking For
We want people who are curious, technically skilled, and excited to build in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment. If you're a builder, a do-er, or someone who thrives in uncertainty, we want to hear from you.
Most fundamentally, we are not hiring a checklist. We are hiring people with strong fundamentals, and a track record of building and growth. That said, the following skills would be useful for this role.
A builder’s mindset – you’ve shipped real projects, demonstrated new ideas, and learned from failures.
A degree in engineering, physics, or a related field
An understanding of thermal and internal flow simulations
Problem solving and debugging skills, especially in the context of engineering simulations
Excellent communication and the ability and desire to work directly with customers
Other Nice-to-Haves
Experience with CFD software development
Familiarity with scripting or programming
Experience with CAD packages
Experience using 3D modelling software such as Blender or Meshmixer
