Company and Role
Robotics Company – Lead Perception Engineer (Real-Time Manipulation)
We’re supporting an ambitious robotics group developing the next wave of dexterous manipulation systems for unstructured, real-world environments — and they’re hiring a Perception Engineer to take full ownership of their end-to-end perception stack.
This is a high-impact role that blends applied research with real-world product development.
You'll prototype and deploy fast, reliable perception pipelines using the latest in deep learning, 3D vision, and multi-modal sensor fusion — all running on cutting-edge robotic platforms built around ROS 2.
You’ll need to have strong fundamentals and the ability to contribute across research and product development.
What You’ll Do
- Own the full perception pipeline — from raw sensor input to scene understanding and action proposals
- Research and prototype novel algorithms in 2D/3D vision, sensor fusion, and grasp prediction
- Optimize and deploy deep learning models in PyTorch and C++ (CUDA) for embedded inference
- Integrate clean, deterministic modules into ROS 2 systems (rclcpp/rclpy, DDS, lifecycle nodes)
- Run rigorous experiments in real and simulated environments, document results clearly
- Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams across planning, control, and hardware
You’ll Need
- PhD or top-tier MSc with publications in robotics, computer vision, or machine learning
- 3+ years building real-time perception systems for robotics or autonomous platforms
- Strong Python and modern C++ (17/20) coding skills
- Experience with PyTorch (training & inference) and GPU toolchains (CUDA, TensorRT)
- Solid production knowledge of ROS 2-based systems
Bonus Points For
- Hands-on experience with manipulation platforms (mobile arms, cobots, bin-picking)
- Deployment on edge hardware (Jetson/Orin, Intel ARC, etc.)
- Open-source contributions to robotics or vision libraries
Why Apply?
- Build cutting-edge systems for real deployment — not just research slides
- Join a tightly knit, expert team with strong academic roots
- Hybrid-friendly culture with excellent lab facilities and equipment
- Competitive salary, equity, conference budget, and dedicated research time
