Configuration and Data Management EngineerLocation: This role can be based with Templecombe, Somerset or Cheadle, Stockport.Contract: PermanentScope: Akkodis have an opportunity within the Aerospace and Defence business unit offering a dynamic role focused on Configuration Management (CM) in support of complex engineering projects. The scope involves working alongside multidisciplinary teams across engineering, business, and operations to ensure effective implementation and governance of CM practices throughout the product lifecycle. The role includes contributing to the specification and oversight of CM requirements for suppliers and subcontractors, adapting CM systems to project needs, and driving consistency in configuration data. You will support key project milestones such as configuration audits, change control boards, and end-of-phase reviews.RoleThe Configuration and Data Management Engineer is responsible for supporting Configuration Management (CM) activities in close collaboration with engineering, business, and operations teams. The role also involves defining CM requirements for suppliers and subcontractors, sharing best practices throughout the product development lifecycle, and contributing to the selection of configuration items and breakdown structures.ResponsibilitiesSupport CM activities in collaboration with all stakeholders in engineering, business, and operationsImplement CM plan in projects driving consistency and completeness of information adapting the CM system as applicableSupport specification of CM requirements to suppliers and subcontractors through statements of workShare best practices and pragmatic approaches to CM across all phases of the product development lifecycle including selection of configuration items and establishment of breakdown structuresParticipate in and occasionally manage change control boardsSupport functional / physical configuration audits, and end of phase reviewsRequired ExperienceExperience working across all phases of product development lifecycle and associated configuration baselines from concept to sustainment operationsDeep knowledge of system integration principles, CM practices and tools in systems, hardware, softwareFamiliarity with different types of configuration baselines used to control and manage the evolution of a system or productExperience working with PALMA or Windchill PLMRequired SkillsAbility to work independently applying judgement during multi-tasking and prioritising tasksProcess-driven, analytical, and detail-oriented with a strong focus on data integrityAbility to communicate, collaborate, and problem-solve with engineering, business, and operations teamsAbout UsAkkodis is a global leader in engineering, technology, and R&D, harnessing the power of connected data to drive digital transformation and innovation for a smarter, more sustainable future.
