Prior clearance will not be transferrable.Job Purpose / OverviewTo provide professional, high quality engineering support to the HPC Project on behalf of the Plant Integration Function and to ensure that the proposed design is compliant with UK regulations and context.Contextual InformationEDF has an established UK-based New Nuclear Build team developing EDF’s interests in new nuclear in the UK. EDF’s ambition is to construct and operate two new EPRs at Hinkley Point in Somerset. Each plant will cost several billion pounds to construct and at the operating stage will employ several hundred people. The Plant Integration team is responsible for ensuring the configuration and control of the HPC Nuclear Power Plant design to underpin the timely and effective delivery of the overall project schedule. It assists with progressing aspects such as consistent design compliant to a set of agreed requirements and consistently implemented in the physical installation (the as-build configuration).This role requires high levels of technical and organisational skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.Principal AccountabilitiesThe primary responsibility of the role of Configuration Engineer is to support the Technical Integration Branch of Plant Integration in coordinating HPC's activities within the Configuration Management processes.Provide technical assistance and manage activities so that the Configuration Management processes owned by Plant Integration are properly, adequately and efficiently implemented across the project.Coordinate contributions from HPC stakeholders to progression of configuration management processes including resolution of Open Points, Design Changes, referential changes, and progressing agreements on Technical Interface attributes.Responsible for controlling, supporting, overall steering and monitoring of the end-to-end configuration activities.Involved in Design Handovers to NNB to ensure configuration control is maintained.In addition, the post-holder may be required to perform other tasks relevant for the project or to the personal development of the post holder.Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & ExperienceDegree in a relevant science or engineering subject or strong technical background preferredChartered Engineer status preferredExperience within the Nuclear Industry preferredExperience of process development and application within engineering projectsUnderstanding of quality arrangements required and associated with nuclear plant construction preferredUnderstanding of equipment engineering requirementsKnowledge of design processes and activities related to Nuclear IndustryKnowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirementsKnowledge of power station design is desirable (EPR or NPP)Proficient project management, organisational and coordination skillsStrong communication skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholdersDecision making and escalation ability for resolution of issuesKnowledge of budget and schedule managementKnowledge of French is desirableAbility to travel to different project locations including FranceEngineering or technical discipline experienceUnderstanding of analysis tools and methods, and ability to apply themExperience of process developmentUnderstand quality arrangements and preferably those associated with nuclear plant constructionUnderstand engineering requirementsDemonstrate ownership of a process and proactivity in resolving Configuration Management issuesAbility to extract and compile relevant data from multiple sourcesAnalysis of technical documents and summarising relevant issuesMaintains accurate and timely records (systems, databases, spreadsheets)Ability to develop and adapt theories to deliver project milestonesIdentify opportunities for improvements to procedures, processes and/or systemsEmployee Staff BenefitsPrivate Medical Scheme*Employee Share SchemeSalary Sacrifice Schemes: Electrical Vehicles, Technology and Cycle to Work18 Weeks Full Maternity Pay* (+21w SMP)25 days holiday (increasing to 28 days after 5 years’ service, 31 days after 10 years’ service)Option to buy, sell and carry over up to 5 days annual leave per yearIn partnership with trade unionsPersonal Development & Further Education SupportLong Service & Recognition AwardsFree Employee Assistance Programme*After 1 year of service.NUVIA UK - a subsidiary of VINCI construction - is an international company that operates across highly regulated sectors including Civil Nuclear and has a strong presence and history of delivery at nuclear sites in the UK and internationally.NUVIA UK is committed towards equality in employment and is a performance-driven company focused on safety, innovation, and excellence.NUVIA UK is an equal opportunity employer.
