Control Systems Engineer

We're seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our client's established engineering team based in Essex. This is a permanent, office-based position (Monday to Friday) offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge control and automation projects within a forward-thinking organisation.
Role Overview:
As a Control Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, programming, and integration of advanced PLC and SCADA systems across a range of industrial automation projects. You'll collaborate closely with customers and internal teams to deliver robust, efficient, and innovative control solutions that meet the highest engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, program, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, producing detailed technical documentation including test procedures and operation manuals. Provide technical input in system design, troubleshooting, and integration, attending meetings with clients and project stakeholders. Contribute to the development of new automation products and control strategies, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and reliability targets. Work to defined project schedules in collaboration with the Systems Engineering Manager to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
Skills & Experience Required:
Degree or HNC in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering (or equivalent). Proven experience in PLC programming and SCADA development - with strong knowledge of IEC (phone number removed) programming languages. Solid understanding of industrial automation, control system integration, and electrical design principles. Experience interpreting P&ID drawings and using CAD tools such as EPLAN Electric P8 or Visio. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Canbus, and Profibus. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative engineering team.
