Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.
Where will you be working?
BGEN is one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the Water, Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear and Food and Beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions.
Want to be a part of it?
What will you be doing?
You'll be working on complex control system projects. As an Engineer, you'll be managing the workload and progress of your team, working closely with the Project Manager & Lead Engineer to meet project milestones.
You’ll turn user requirements and existing software into powerful, streamlined control systems - giving old tech new life.
From PLC and SCADA configuration to writing HMI logic, you'll create the systems that make everything work smoothly and safely.
Spending your time between the office and home, bench testing your software. When it’s time to go live, you’ll be there - working side by side with clients to fine-tune systems during on-site commissioning and ensure everything’s running smoothly during SAT.
What you'll bring:
- You’re a versatile systems engineer with a breath of experience. From your first PLC program to complex, site-wide integrations.
- Skilled in PLC & HMI software development using at least two platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Schneider)
- Familiar with communication protocols: EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, PROFIBUS DP/PA, and Modbus TCP/IP
- Hands-on experience with SCADA systems
- Experienced in working with Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety and safe working practices
- When it comes to health and safety, you lead by example. High standards aren’t just the rule—they’re part of your ethos.
We offer a range of benefits designed to support your life in and out of work, some of which include;
- Company Pension Scheme
- Death in Service Benefit
- Hybrid working is available following initial probationary period.
- Opportunity to purchase additional holidays per year (up to 5 days for full time employees)
- My Rewards - offering discounts on high street and online shopping
- Employee assistance programme
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Private health care for you
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Recommend a friend - get rewarded for introducing people to us!
- Overtime

- We’re ambitious and embrace opportunity, to lead essential infrastructure services for life
