What you’ll be doing
As a Corporate Facilities Project Engineer, you will manage a portfolio of projects ranging from approximately £30,000 to £2,000,000, from scoping the projects from scratch to completion, including reporting throughout and managing the handover. This role offers a good work-life balance and involves travel across the Thames Valley and/or the London Region. Your main duties will include:
- Scoping projects independently in coordination with Operational Specialists to ensure comprehensive project definitions.
- Inviting Framework Contractors to tender, managing the tender process, review, and awarding contracts.
- Ensuring CDM compliance for all projects, acting as the Client, and managing Principal Designer and Contractor, ensuring all projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with Thames Water and legal guidelines.
- Collaborating with the Controller of Premises for Pre-Construction information, and reviewing Contractors' Construction Phase Plans, Health & Safety Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
- Inducting Contractors and their supply chains on site hazards and safety issues.
- Delivering performance in health and safety, environment, and quality, maintaining detailed and organized administrative records.
- Regularly liaising with the Controller of Premises to address issues related to Contractor performance, resources, and schedules.
- Forecasting project spend accurately and reporting to Delivery Managers, escalating issues as needed, and adhering to company governance procedures.
Base Location: Hybrid role based in Reading, with site visits to Oxford, Reading, and Swindon.
What you should bring to the role
- HND/HNC/BEng/NVQ Level 4 in construction management, mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, or equivalent, or a strong construction/mechanical/electrical background.
- Extensive construction or facilities management experience.
- Experience scoping construction projects from conception to procurement.
- Experience managing contractors and auditing their performance.
- Good project management, communication, and financial skills, with knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills to handle multiple projects without compromising standards.
- Ability to develop professional, customer-focused relationships.
- Full UK driving license and personal transport.
