OverviewAs a Corporate Facilities Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of projects on Thames Water buildings. This includes infrastructure/refurbishment, hard and soft facilities (Corporate), structural projects (Lifecycle) and the delivery of facilities for staff (Welfare), on our huge range of buildings, which include Listed buildings and those of operational importance.What you’ll be doing as a Corporate Facilities Project EngineerYou manage a portfolio of projects ranging from approximately £30,000 to £2,000,000, from scoping the projects from scratch to completion, including reporting throughout and managing the handover. This is a perfect job if you are looking for more of a work-life balance. You will join a highly collaborative and supportive team and will be expected to travel across the Thames Valley and/or the London Region. Your main duties and responsibilities will consist of the following:Scope projects independently, liaising with Operational Specialists (our internal clients) to ensure the scope is fully evolvedInvite Framework Contractors to tender, managing the return, review and award of tendersEnsuring CDM compliance for all projects, acting as Client and managing Principal Designer and Contractor, ensuring all projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with Thames Water and legal guidelinesLiaise with the Controller of Premises for any Pre-Construction information. Check and appraise Contractors\' Construction Phase Plan, Health & Safety Plans, Risk Assessments and Method Statements for safe execution of the worksEnsure the Contractor and their supply chain are inducted and aware of any relevant Site Hazards or Health & Safety issues that may affect the works being carried outDeliver performance in key areas of health and safety, environment and quality, with a detailed and organised administration recordLiaise regularly with the Controller of Premises and manage any issues with the Contractor\'s performance, resources and programme or site issuesRegularly forecasting spend accurately and reporting to Delivery Managers, ensuring escalation of issues where necessary. Understanding and following the company governance procedures in place, and working with others to improve themBase Location – This is a Hybrid role based in Reading, and you will be required to visit large strategic sites, including Oxford, Reading and Swindon.What you should bring to the roleHold a HND/HNC/BEng/NVQ Level 4 in construction management, mechanical, electrical, civil engineering or equivalent or have a strong construction, mechanical or electrical backgroundHave strong construction or facilities management experienceHave good experience scoping construction projects, from conception to procurement of ContractorsHave had previous experience managing contractors and auditing their performance, motivating all to achieve high standards of complianceHave good project management, communication and financial management skills as well as having sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulationsPossess strong organisational, planning and time management skills; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and qualityHave the ability to develop friendly and professional customer-focused relations with othersA full UK driving licence and have your own transportWhat’s in it for you?Offering up to £64,500 per annum, including car allowance, depending on experience and skills.26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service.
