Overview
Project Controls acts as a centre of excellence, strategically managing delivery performance data to support the successful execution of a major nuclear new build programme. Our teams drive proactive, forward-looking solutions that continuously enhance project performance.
As the Cost Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the functional support and development of EcoSys, our Cost Management System, including its configuration, periodic updates, and reporting outputs. You will play a key role in ensuring the system aligns with project controls standards and supports both client and supply chain delivery scopes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the configuration and maintenance of EcoSys, ensuring optimal performance and usability.
- Manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS), including integration with Primavera P6 coding.
- Align cost data with scheduled activities to ensure accurate forecasting and reporting.
- Implement digital solutions that deliver value across capital projects and asset management.
- Communicate complex system configurations clearly to stakeholders and provide simplified training to teams.
- Conduct system assurance activities independently, leveraging deep knowledge of Project Controls functions.
- Support cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reporting.
- Assist with baseline allocation and cost control across construction disciplines.
- Coordinate and verify the accuracy and consistency of cost reports.
- Collect, classify, and analyse cost data using historical trends and statistical methods.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree or equivalent qualification in business analysis, finance, engineering, construction, or project management.
- Proven experience with EcoSys on major infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of cost and change management principles.
- Proficiency in cost control and reporting tools.
- Advanced knowledge of system configuration, database management, scripting, integration, and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and other relevant software applications.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience with other cost systems such as Prism (Contruent), Cobra, Unifier, or Smartsheets.
- Familiarity with server-side administration including disk usage, security, and performance tuning.
- Experience collaborating with Finance, Data Management, and IT teams.
- Proficiency in Power BI and other reporting/analytics tools.
- Exposure to multiple Project Controls functions: cost control, estimating, scheduling, change and risk management.
- Understanding of NEC and FIDIC contract types.
- Experience in the nuclear sector
