Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced
Quality Engineer
to lead all quality-related processes and design in support of customer and production requirements within the automotive industry, focusing on BIW, Closures, and Perceived Quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Own commodity quality plan, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS) and/or iCreate. Deliver Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables. Lead closure of 8D reports and ensure process adherence. Complete quality data and reports to required timings. Ensure associates are aware of and trained in required Quality Standards. Ensure compliance with all JLR standards throughout design maturation. Provide input into new feature development. Ensure all program design solutions meet Crafted Quality and World Class Product Audit (WCPA) requirements. Keep all project/programme documentation up to date. Undertake additional work as directed by line manager. Skills, Experience, and Abilities Required:
Essential:
Proven experience managing quality projects and applying structured problem-solving techniques. Experience in doors PQ, Fit and Finish (Gap & Flush) issue resolution. Good knowledge of Power door systems. Hands-on experience with visualisation tools for perceived quality. Proficiency in Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan). In-depth knowledge of 8D methodology. Experience with project management/agile methodologies. Experience leading resolution of business, technical, and process issues. Knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, and change management processes. Ability to use structured problem-solving tools and techniques. Experience with component verification methods at component, system, and vehicle levels. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Experience managing and influencing key stakeholders.
Desirable:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or automotive engineering. Working knowledge of JIRA. Self-motivated and effective team player. Experience supporting Lead Engineers and manufacturing/launch issues. Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
