The Opportunity: An opportunity is available for a highly experienced EC&I Hardware Design Engineer to support a major nuclear project. The assignment will be based in Warrington, with West Cumbria also considered. Hybrid working is available based around a working week of 40 hours.
Responsibilities
Support the engineering design team in the production and review of engineering design drawings. Significant experience in the use of AutoCAD, as well as of nuclear standards and processes, is essential.
Produce engineering design work packages (specifications, drawings, analysis, verification or assessment of engineering) that satisfy legal and functional requirements along with associated performance conditions to the agreed time, cost and quality.
Generate and review engineering design drawings, mainly related to control system cubicles, enclosures, and interface panels. Identify constraints and design impacts from site visits, collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders, and oversee manufacturing and assembly to a high-quality level.
Provide associated information such as Power Load and Heat Calculations, electrical instrumentation/interface drawings, I/O Schedules, Hardware Test Specifications, Inspection & Defect Reports, Purchase Order & Material Traceability, Lifetime Quality Records.
Qualifications & Experience
HNC or substantial experience with a high emphasis on EC&I engineering.
Significant Experience in the use of AutoCAD.
Must have significant demonstrable experience in EC&I Project Delivery.
Experience in the design & delivery of Electrical Enclosures, Control System Panels, Motor Control Centres, etc.
Competent in the application of CDM Regulations.
Competent in the application of IET Wiring Regulations.
Experience of space management, panel layouts, cable routing, cable management & cable calculations, and load & heat calculations.
Ability to work as part of an Integrated Delivery Team, and individually, within sometimes restrictive time constraints.
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities to interact with people at all levels.
Desirable
Member of a relevant professional institution - typically the IET.
Experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA Control Systems.
Experience delivering against BS 61508 and/or BS 13489.
Experience in delivering in accordance with Sellafield Ltd Management System.
Role Setting
The role will be mainly office based with trips to site if required. A safety induction will be provided.
