OverviewCantium Business Solutions is hiring a Cyber Security Engineer to strengthen and advance our cyber security posture. This is a role to lead proactive security efforts from day one, with opportunities to drive impactful security strategies.Base pay and hoursHours: Full time, 37.5 hours per weekSalary: Up to £60,000 per annum (DOE) – Cantium Business Solutions pay range; actual pay discussed with recruiter.What you’ll be doingAct on security alerts, incidents, and events to reduce risk and ensure timely responses.Diagnose and investigate security incidents following agreed procedures.Escalate and document unresolved incidents and support recovery efforts.Operate within our enterprise-level SOC and collaborate on threat intelligence.Utilise tools like Microsoft E5, Sentinel, and Darktrace to monitor and prevent threats.Analyse malware and respond to high-priority incidents.Support vulnerability management and threat analysis activities.Participate in our on-call rotation for cyber incident response.Contribute to documentation and certification processes such as Cyber Essentials.Engage with cross-functional teams to improve security practices and awareness.What we’re looking forMust have at least 2–5 years’ experience in Cyber Security engineering within a SOC or equivalent function.Proficiency with Microsoft Security Suite (including Sentinel) and Darktrace or similar.Understanding of cyber threats including malware, ransomware, DDoS, insider threats.Strong knowledge of threat modelling, security monitoring, and cloud environments.Familiarity with GDPR, data protection, and privacy impact assessments.Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a proactive mindset.Industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+) are beneficial.Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced setting.What you’ll get in returnSalary up to £60,000 per annum (DOE)25 days annual leave, plus your birthday offLife assurance cover (4x salary)Pension scheme with 6% employer contributionAdditional benefits including retail and gym discounts, health cash plan and cycle to work schemeVolunteer days and access to a comprehensive wellbeing programmeTailored learning and development support with real opportunities to progressWhy Cantium/Cantium Business Solutions within CSGCantium Business Solutions is part of the Commercial Services Group (CSG), the UK’s largest local authority-owned trading organisation, delivering IT and back-office services to education and public sector customers.
