Overview
The Data Center Technician will handle the setup, maintenance, and support of servers and network infrastructure within a data center environment. This position involves hardware installation, structured cabling, inventory tracking, and managing the logistics of incoming and outgoing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Install and secure servers, storage units, and network switches according to established procedures.
Manage copper and fiber cabling with precision and organization.
Conduct regular inventory checks, update asset databases, and resolve any discrepancies.
Oversee shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accurate labeling, packaging, and documentation.
Work closely with operations, security, and facilities teams to maintain smooth workflows.
Troubleshoot hardware and cabling issues, escalating complex problems to senior staff.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications such as A+ or BICSI Installer I are advantageous.
Minimum of one year of practical experience in a data center or comparable IT environment.
Ability to safely handle heavy equipment and perform tasks at height.
Familiarity with logistics, shipping processes, and inventory management systems.
Comfortable working in varied temperature environments and on rotating shifts.
Technical Skills
Knowledge of structured cabling standards for Cat6/Cat6a, single-mode, and multi-mode fiber.
Experience using cable testers, crimping tools, and rack installation equipment.
Basic understanding of server hardware, including RAID setups, blade servers, and rack PDUs.
Experience with asset management software and barcode scanning.
Awareness of ESD procedures, safety practices, and personal protective equipment requirements.
Inventory management

Based within 90 minutes of site
