Job Title: Data Centre Engineering Operations Technician

Job Description

The Engineering Operations Technician position serves as the on-site maintenance technician and operator for a data centre. This role is integral in operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment within the data centre. The technician acts as a technical resource to ensure equipment supporting mission-critical servers maintains better than uptime, while also driving innovation and reducing operational costs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment within the data centre.
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events in line with internal service level agreements.
  • Perform maintenance tasks including filter changes, HVAC preventative maintenance, rack power installs, rack PDU, and rack ATS replacements.
  • Provide support to Data Centre Operations technicians.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety procedures while performing work duties.
  • Take daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds, logging temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.
  • Utilise the internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory.
  • Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventative maintenance.
  • Respond to off-hour emergency calls as per on-call rotation for regional sites.
  • Comply fully with all physical security procedures and policies.

  • Experience in HVAC systems, electrical maintenance, and facilities upkeep.
  • Proficiency in data centre operations and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

  • Capability to collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts.
  • Experience in managing workflows and inventory using CMMS.
