You’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.The successful candidate will oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in AWS Cloud regions. Our technicians operate and maintain AWS DCs’ world-class mechanical and electrical infrastructure. In addition to technical operations and maintenance, the candidate will oversee facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures. The role requires a motivated, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions while striving for operational excellence.The work follows a process-oriented approach with a strong willingness to learn new processes and adapt to rapidly changing operational scenarios with conflicting priorities. The successful candidate will be part of the Engineering and Facilities team and will be responsible for maintaining availability for customers, ensuring maintenance and operation of technical infrastructure, and the upkeep and operation of the DC facility.Key job responsibilitiesSafety - Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. Own safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.Engineering & Facility Operations and Maintenance - Operational experience with electrical and mechanical equipment, including UPS, switchgear, circuit breakers, ATS, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, VFDs, and transformersTroubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)Take daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenanceManual handling and lifting of equipment may be requiredAbility to work shifts (morning, late, and night)On-call rotation reaction to off-duty emergency callsBasic QualificationsHigh school or equivalent diplomaCity & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalentKnowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC, Controls) or knowledge of key electrical competencies and theoryPreferred QualificationsExperience in data center engineering2+ years of data center engineering operations experienceBachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or equivalent engineeringAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
