Our client, a specialist consultancy delivering high-impact data and technology solutions to the financial services sector, is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join their growing team. This is a hands-on role, working directly with complex financial datasets across asset management and insurance to build scalable solutions that drive business-critical decisions.
The Role
As a Data Engineer, you’ll be embedded in projects within asset management and reinsurance, designing pipelines, handling large datasets, and providing insights to senior stakeholders. You’ll use modern cloud platforms and data tools to deliver solutions that go beyond traditional methods, directly shaping how financial services organisations manage and interpret their data.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced data manipulation, mapping, and analysis to support business and technical teams.
- Build and maintain pipelines using Python, SQL, and cloud-native tools.
- Deliver data-driven solutions within the asset management, investments, or reinsurance domain.
- Work with cross-functional teams to capture requirements and deliver effective outcomes.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- Advanced SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.
- Background in asset management, investments, or reinsurance operations (within the last 2 years).
- Degree in a financial discipline (investments, accounting, actuarial, or similar) from a UK-based university – essential.
Nice-to-Haves
- Familiarity with dbt or Databricks.
- Experience with life insurance or reinsurance projects.
Process
- Follow-up 1-hour technical interview with a coding test.
This is an immediate requirement, with the stability of long-term engagement (several years) offered on a rolling 6-month contract.
