About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team during a period of significant growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures on the AWS cloud platform. This role involves working closely with cross‑functional teams to develop innovative data solutions that support business objectives across various sectors, including consumer, manufacturing, defense, energy, financial services, and more. The Data Engineer will play a vital role in creating efficient data workflows, managing large volumes of structured and unstructured data, and ensuring the integrity and security of data assets. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on cutting‑edge technologies, contribute to transformative digital initiatives, and develop expertise in cloud‑based data engineering within a collaborative and forward‑thinking environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in designing and deploying production‑grade data pipelines using languages such as Java, Python, Scala, and SQL.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services related to data and analytics, including EMR, Glue, RedShift, Kinesis, Lambda, and DynamoDB.
- Strong understanding of big data architecture, data ingestion, transformation, and consumption processes.
- Ability to write and optimise complex SQL queries and scripts for data extraction and manipulation.
- Experience working with large datasets, integrating data from multiple sources, and managing data workflows on cloud platforms.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and analytical thinking, with a focus on delivering scalable and high‑performance data solutions.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, capable of working with diverse stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment.
- Relevant certifications or training in AWS cloud technologies and data engineering are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and maintaining robust ETL pipelines to facilitate data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes on AWS cloud platforms.
- Building and optimising data warehouses and data lakes to support analytical and operational needs.
- Collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Implementing best practices for data security, quality, and governance across all data workflows.
- Automating data processing tasks and improving pipeline efficiency through scripting and cloud‑native services.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
- Participating in agile development cycles, including sprint planning, stand‑ups, and code reviews.
- Contributing to documentation and knowledge sharing to promote best practices within the team.
