Job Description

My client is looking for a skilled, driven, forward-thinking Data Engineer to take full ownership of all data engineering activities. You will be joining a Data Team within a high growth period who are driving and shaping a data vision and strategy across the group.

This role is pivotal in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure mainly using the Microsoft BI Stack – Power BI, SSIS, SQL, and python/devops skills.

Reporting into the Group Head of Data, you will drive the group towards a data-rich and data-hungry business by capitalizing on the strong foundations the data team has built, continuing to build roads that will unlock data as a superpower so that our teams can gain the competitive edge and make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the full lifecycle of data engineering tasks from ingestion to transformation and delivery.
  • Architect and implement scalable data pipelines mainly using the Microsoft tech stack.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across all systems.
  • Overcome barriers to delivery to support the business.
  • Data Infrastructure & Optimization
  • Design and maintain robust data models and storage solutions mainly using but not limited to SSIS, XML, T-SQL (SSMS) & python.
  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs
  • Optimize performance of ETL/ ELT processes and database queries.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting for data workflows.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with analysts to understand data needs.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Document data architecture and processes for transparency and scalability using DevOps.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to a junior data engineer who will report directly to you.

Required:

  • 3-4+ years of experience within data engineering roles
  • Experience with and appreciation for end-to-end Data & Analytics lifecycles.
  • A vision for how data and analytics could help people and teams achieve their outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior engineers is a plus
  • An eye for the detail and excellent accuracy of work.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Effective organisation and time management skills
  • Tech/Languages currently in place – MS Tech Stack (SSIS, MS SQL Server, Power BI, etc), Python, DevOps.
