About the Role

This is a hands-on engineering role within a global team that designs, maintains, and secures the firm's database estate. You\'ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure database systems are robust, performant, and aligned with the needs of a fast-paced trading environment. The role spans production support, solution design, automation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support production database systems across multiple technologies.
  • Design and implement database solutions for production, testing, and development environments.
  • Lead initiatives around high availability, performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
  • Manage database security, access controls, and permissions in line with best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address data integration, flow, and reporting requirements.
  • Drive automation and monitoring improvements using scripting and tooling.
  • Support upgrades, migrations, and enhancements across the database stack.
  • Ensure documentation and testing are embedded into operational workflows.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 5+ years of experience in production database administration.
  • Strong expertise in at least two of: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Shell, Python, or Ansible.
  • Solid understanding of database programming (e.g. SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL).
  • Comfortable working in UNIX/Linux environments.
  • Experience with database monitoring, performance tuning, and disaster recovery.
  • Familiarity with cloud database administration and modern platforms (e.g. ClickHouse, Snowflake) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on documentation and testing.
  • Collaborative mindset and proactive approach to problem-solving.
