Overview

Deputy Electrical Senior Authorised Engineer role at Laveer Engineering (Westinghouse). Office-based with some opportunities for home working.

Responsibilities

• Adherence to company safety rules/procedures and compliance with legislative and regulatory standards in a regulated industry. Proactive involvement in all aspects of Conventional and Nuclear Safety.
• Deliver CE&I engineering governance, setting standards through site procedures, guiding CE&I engineering through engineering forums, monitoring performance via metrics/audits and taking corrective action to maintain compliance.
• Ensure CE&I engineering processes meet national/international standards, Nuclear Site Licence Conditions (UK ONR SLCs, SAPs & SFL EDSPs) and comply with the UK Construction Design & Management (2015) Regulations.
• Oversee governance of the site 11KV distribution system, approving switching programs, overseeing 11KV engineering, protection studies and input into electrical distribution projects.
• Carry out Design Authority functions as part of major and minor projects.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, stakeholders, engineers and the wider team.
• Apply Human Factors principles in all engineering works.
• Mentor less experienced engineers, graduates and apprentices.
• Maintain mandatory Westinghouse training and pursue external CPD courses; some training may require travel and overnight stays.
• Opportunity to deploy skills across wider site activities, including COMAH oversight and process safety.

Qualifications

Experience Required: Minimum 10 years in a relevant CE&I engineering environment, ideally within nuclear or similarly regulated industry.

Preferred Qualifications: C Eng / MIET / FIET. Candidates with IEng actively pursuing chartered status will be considered.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong team player with a proactive, safety-conscious mindset
• Proven experience in CE&I engineering governance
• Experience in Design Authority or similar oversight function
• Familiarity with 11KV electrical distribution systems is a plus
• Proficient in BS7671 (18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations)
• Knowledge of CE&I standards and regulations (national/international)
• Understanding of Human Factors and Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511, SIL levels)
