Design and Development Engineer Location: Derby Term: Permanent Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

A well-established engineering company based in Derby is seeking a Design and Development Engineer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in both the conceptual and practical stages of new product development and innovation.

The Design and Development Engineer will ideally have the following:

Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline

Proven experience in a mechanical design or product development role

Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)

Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design for manufacture (DFM)

Ability to take a product from concept through to production

Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Strong communication and teamwork skills

The Design and Development Engineer role will involve:

Designing new products and developing improvements to existing products

Creating 3D CAD models and detailed technical drawings

Prototyping, testing, and validating new designs

Working closely with production, quality, and purchasing teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-efficiency

Conducting design reviews and risk assessments

Maintaining accurate documentation throughout the product development lifecycle
