Overview
We are seeking a talented and innovative Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and a passion for system design, contributing to the development of cutting-edge solutions. This role requires proficiency in various engineering software and tools, as well as the ability to conduct thorough root cause analysis to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining detailed mechanical designs for IT server cabinets, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and manufacturing capabilities.
Creating accurate 3D models, drawings and BOMs using CAD software, ensuring clarity and completeness for production and supply chain teams.
Collaborating with fabrication and production teams to ensure designs are optimised for sheet metal and fabrication processes such as turret punching, bending, welding and powder coating.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation in cabinet design, including airflow management, cable routing, structural integrity and modularity.
Support quality engineering processes by validating design tolerances, material specifications and assembly processes to meet customer expectations and capability requirements.
Balance design with cost effectiveness, identifying opportunities to simplify manufacture and assembly processes while maintaining product functionality.
Work closely with project management, production engineering, quality and supply chain teams to translate customer requirements into manufacturable solutions that are in line with company processes.
Ensure all designs meet relevant standards (UL, UKCA, CE etc.) and produce supporting documentation to achieve compliance.
Manage engineering change notifications (ECN’s), drawing and model revisions, and version control to maintain design integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
Provide technical guidance during prototyping, testing and production ramps, and assist in trouble shooting design challenges, and supporting sales team with technical expertise.
Work and interface directly with customers, managing timelines, expectations and balancing design requirements with production capabilities. Experience
BSc/BEng or equivalent in mechanical engineering, design, or other applicable field.
Proven experience in mechanical design engineering or a related field is essential.
CAD Software (Creo and/or Inventor desirable)

A salary up to £45,000 depending on experience.
