An exciting opportunity for an experienced Design/Senior Engineer to join a dynamic Engineering Department to help to grow and evolve the machine range, assist with the design of new systems whilst maintaining the highest possible level of reliability within an increasingly technically sophisticated product.
Our client designs and manufactures conventional and telescopic wheeled loading shovels including emissions free battery electric powertrains, hydrostatic CVTs, multirange powershift transmissions, the latest diesel engine technology, specialist electrohydraulic systems, lean-design steel and composite structures, polymer cab trim and bodywork, and intelligent and automated machine control systems with luxury operator interfaces.
Design/Senior Design Engineer Role:
* Prepare design concepts, GAs and drawings for new product design, VAVE, and solutions to field issues on current and new products.
* Develop robust solutions through problem analysis and involvement in FMEA, 8D, and high-level risk assessment.
* Preparation of technical specifications/ design brief for new product and improvements to existing models, with project co-ordinators as appropriate.
* Capable of engineering calculations to substantiate engineering decisions.
* Prepare, update, issue and checking design control documents such as Engineering change notes timing plan, cost management, etc.
* Maintenance and compilation of Technical Construction files and fit for purpose documentation / sign off.
* Product homologation and legislative conformance.
* Design of machinery and subsystems such as hydraulic circuits, power train and fabricated structures.
* Technical liaison with suppliers to ensure prototype part delivery is within project timing.
* Day to day running of projects and supervision of any engineers allocated for project work.
* Liaison with colleagues in product validation to ensure designs are robustly tested and meet requirements.
* Travel on business may be required periodically.
Design/Senior Design Engineer Requirements:
* Strong engineering background, possessing a degree and minimum of 5 years’ experience, but the role and responsibilities can be adapted to suit the experience level and current career position.
* Good engineering knowledge of off highway systems.
* 3D CAD system operation (NX preferable) to conduct design studies and concept work. Knowledge of PLM / Teamcenter is .
* Working knowledge of failure investigation and root cause analysis – 8D DFMEA.
* Skilled in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Demonstrate a high level of commitment, flexibility and enthusiasm as well as a sense of urgency and ownership of projects.
* Experience of working in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of the types of different manufacturing processes and supply chain used in the production of construction or similar equipment.
* Ability to communicate clearly, interfacing with the immediate engineering team as well as the wider team; including the company’s Indian Design Centre, Manufacturing, Service and Marketing, is a pre-requisite.
