DevOps Engineer - Plymouth (Hybrid)

Location: Plymouth, South West England (Hybrid) Salary: £44,400 + £11,906 pension contribution

We are open to candidates with professional experience as well as passionate graduate candidates eager to start their career in DevOps.

As a crucial part of our Transformation & Technology team, you'll be at the heart of this change, building and supporting the platforms for our new microservices applications. This isn't just about maintenance; it's about innovating and building for the future. You'll work in a fast-paced agile environment, using a DevOps methodology across multiple cloud infrastructures to ensure our systems are secure, performant, and reliable.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building the Future: Maintain and improve our Shared Technology Platform, working with technologies like Kubernetes, AWS, OpenShift, and Puppet.
  • Automating Everything: Design and manage scalable, secure infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and create powerful CI/CD pipelines.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support to keep our services running smoothly.
  • Sharing Your Knowledge: Act as a technical role model, collaborating with senior engineers and mentoring junior team members.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a strong background in IT and a passion for modern DevOps practices.

  • Experience with Linux, containers, and orchestration services like OpenShift and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Ruby, Java, Python, JavaScript, or Go.
  • Experience with DevOps, Continuous Integration, and version control systems like Git and GitLab CI.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and working with cloud platforms, especially AWS.

For graduates, we are looking for a relevant qualification and a strong foundational understanding of these technologies, even if your professional experience is limited. Your passion for modern DevOps practices and willingness to learn are what matter most.
