Digital Project Engineer
New Today
Overview
The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water's region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.
Role
The Digital Project Engineer will lead the development and delivery of Digital Rehearsals to support construction planning, health and safety, logistics, and scenario planning across SPA projects. Using 4D modelling techniques and immersive technologies, this role will create and coordinate time-sequenced construction models, enabling project teams to visualise buildability, optimise planning, and de-risk delivery. In addition, the role will facilitate VR sessions during design and construction gateway reviews, enabling stakeholders to experience project designs in immersive environments, and will support the deployment of AR solutions on live construction sites to enhance collaboration, safety, and efficiency. The role will combine remote working with on-site visits, and will require regular facilitation of in-person Digital Rehearsals at the SPA Project Office, Worldwide House, Peterborough.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain 4D construction models using software such as Navisworks, Synchro, or equivalent.
- Integrate programme data into 3D models to create visual construction sequences.
- Collaborate with design and construction teams to simulate buildability, logistics, temporary works, and site phasing.
- Use 4D models to support Health & Safety planning and identify critical risks at early stages.
- Lead Digital Rehearsals with multi-disciplinary teams to validate sequences, resolve issues, and improve decision-making.
- Prepare and run VR sessions at design and construction gateway reviews, ensuring clear, structured, and collaborative engagement with stakeholders.
- Support site teams with the use of AR technology to overlay design intent against real-world environments.
- Ensure all 4D models, simulations, and immersive outputs align with SPA BIM protocols, industry standards, and Alliance requirements.
- Embrace new digital technologies to achieve the goal of Digital Rehearsals.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating feedback and industry best practices into Digital Rehearsals.
