About the role
Our team shapes projects that connect communities and impact daily life for millions. Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as an Electrical Design Engineer and build new futures. This role can be based from any of our regional offices across England and Scotland.
Role Purpose:
- To create electrical designs and procure specialist packages in heavy industries
Due to the nature of our projects, we require individuals to hold full work rights within the UK, coupled with being eligible for SC level Security Clearance.
What you'll be doing
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will have the following accountabilities:
- Design LV electrical distribution systems
- Create documentation such as specifications, datasheets, cable calculations, schedules, and drawings (via CAD team)
- Review and check manufacturer documents for compliance with project specifications
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant technical consultants and suppliers
Who we're looking for
Qualities and experience:
- Proficient in Trimble (Amtech) ProDesign
- Focus on collaboration and building relationships with other designers and project teams to deliver cost-effective and acceptable design solutions
- Effective communication skills at all levels, with clear and succinct writing
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement in design
- Excellent IT skills are desirable, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
- Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and regulatory material
- Experience in heavy industries such as Petrochemical, Power, Renewables, and Nuclear
Beneficial experience:
- Design of HV electrical systems
- Use of AutoCAD and/or Revit software
- Use of Dialux or Relux software
- Use of SKM, ETAP, Digsilent, PSCAD software
- Design of ATEX systems
