Electrical Design Engineer\n\nGreater Manchester-Didsbury \n\n£40,000 - £60,000 + Company car & 5% Bonus \n\nBrief\n\nElectrical Design Engineer is needed for a large facilities management organisation based in Manchester who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Electrical Design Engineer that takes pride in their work with an in-depth knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems design (general), of BS:7671 and IET technical guidance notes and prepare electrical design solutions for retrofit decarbonisation projects, new-build energy centres and heat networks.\n\nThe successful candidate must have experience in AutoCAD and REVIT and have knowledge of lighting, small power / switchgear, data, fire alarm, security and access control systems.\n\nBenefits\n\nOn offer is a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes:\n\nSalary of £40,000-£60,000 based on experience.\nA company car (Business use only)\n25 days annual leave (+ public holidays) \n5% bonus\nPrivate health\nLife Cover equivalent to 2 times annual salary \nEmployee discount shopping schemes for major brands and retailers \nGym membership discounts \nCycle to work scheme \nHoliday purchase scheme \n2 corporate social responsibility days per year \nBroad range of learning opportunities, such as professional qualifications, collective/individual training, and personalized support programs \nAttractive Employee Referral Rewards Scheme \nAccess to our growing employee networks including RISE (BAME), LGBTQI+, Working Parents, YPN ( Persons Network) and our Network \n24/7 Employee Assistance Program and access to mental wellbeing app \n\nWhat the role entails:\n\nSome of the main duties of the Electrical Design Engineer will include:\n\nTo prepare electrical design solutions for retrofit decarbonisation projects, new-built energy centres and heat networks, taking a RIBA 1 brief to RIBA 4 technical design.\nTo carry out electrical load assessments and size switchgear, distribution systems and equipment\nTo carry out calculations using proprietary software and understand various installation and reference methods used in calculations. \nTo prepare design models, utilising proprietary design software, such as AutoCAD and REVIT\nTo utilise application specific software, such as PVSyst and Dialux\nPrepare calculations and engineering analysis for the purpose of validating simulation models, confirming systems design requirements and performances\nWork within a multidisciplinary design team, collaborating with mechanical, structural / civil, architectural, energy and specialist designers to produce coordinated designs\nSupport market research to identify new and emerging technology / design innovations and assess suitability for application to projects\nSupport technical options appraisals to qualify / quantify best available techniques for low carbon systems\nPrepare design / functional specifications and contribute to tender scopes\nLead / contribute to Design Stage Reports and associated customer-facing documents\nUndertake Designer Risk Assessments to identify and minimise health, safety and environmental risks associated with designs prepared\nWith support from colleagues, understand and comply with statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements applicable to design What experience you need to be the successful Electrical Design Engineer:\n\nAn advanced level of understanding of low-voltage electrical systems design (general)\nGood knowledge of British Standards, design guides and the Building Regulations\nGood knowledge of BS:7671 and IET technical guidance notes. \nAware of health and safety and CDM regulations.\nCan produce schematic layouts and single line diagrams for electrical systems from concept to detailed design (with assistance from senior engineers)\nKnowledge of lighting, small power / switchgear, data, fire alarm, security and access control systems in context to the role.\nAware of stakeholder involvement within the project life cycle\nAware of environmental, cultural and health and safety issues associated with the design of systems\nAble to prepare draft specifications, stage reports, tender documentation\nCompetent in standard industry design software, including AutoCAD and REVIT\nCompetent in standard Microsoft Office products i.e.
