Overview

Electrical Design Engineer role at Expleo Group. Remote work with occasional attendance at Barnstaple. The candidate will work on cable designs using E3 Zuken and should have experience designing cables for hostile environments such as marine, defence, or rail.

We are seeking an energetic and driven engineer with broad expertise; priority is given to candidates with marine, military, or rail experience. This role offers a highly remote working arrangement while contributing to the security of the UK and its allies. Valued attributes include being a team player, using initiative, having a passion for engineering, strong attention to detail, and a thorough, methodical approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Design of cables using E3 Zuken
• Selection of components and materials to meet specifications
• Creation of parts for the parts library as needed
• Output of drawings and Bills of Materials (BoMs)

Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline (e.g., ONC/HNC or higher)

Essential Skills

• E3 Zuken
• Configuration management experience (e.g., Palma/Team Centre or Windchill)
• Ability to communicate engineering issues clearly, both verbally and in writing, and tailor technical explanations to the audience
• Experience reporting progress to senior management and tailoring messages to stakeholders
• Ability to take ownership, work on own initiative, and understand system functionality

Experience

• Experience with connector types for military applications and/or hostile environments
• Experience with cable types for hostile environments
• Experience with methods to ruggedise cables
• Marine, Defence, Rail or similar experience
• Ability to work across the full Engineering Development Lifecycle
