Electrical Design Engineer role at South East Water UK.

Are you a curious and experienced Electrical Engineer looking for a role with real purpose? You'll be involved in all stages of our capital engineering projects, from initial idea through to commissioning, playing a vital role in providing an essential service. Flexible/hybrid working (office/home) is offered, with travel to locations or sites within South East Water’s supply areas as required for pre-construction and construction phase elements such as scoping or Contractor progress/design review meetings, defect reviews, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Development of technical solutions and coordinating work with multi-disciplinary teams (Process, Civil and Mechanical).
  • Production of technical reports and the ability to work independently and as a team member to carry out checking, reviews and approval of complex electrical detailed designs, including calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
  • Analysis of options and selection of technical solutions as appropriate.
  • Ensuring contractors' designs comply with the latest company specifications and other relevant industry specifications (WIMES, IET wiring regulations, etc.) and legislations.
  • Development of outline scheme designs.
  • Assistance in preparation of scheme programmes, estimates and tender documentation.

Requirements / Skills

  • HNC or a Degree in Engineering or equivalent training in the relevant area.
  • Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer with the IET.
  • Extensive experience in water utilities would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work closely with others and know when to refer to others.
  • Good technical report writing, editorial skills, and oral communication.
  • Detailed knowledge of PLC systems, HMIs, Variable Speed Drives, Harmonic filtration, data networks, telemetry systems and standby generator systems.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office; knowledge of Google Workspace beneficial.
