Electrical Engineer – Project Role (Edinburgh Area)

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer looking for a career move away from the tools? This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-end, critical site just outside Edinburgh, working in a permanent role focused on project delivery and subcontractor management.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with a strong background in electrical systems and project delivery. This role will see you responsible for overseeing a variety of small works projects (typically under £100k), ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Unlike a traditional engineering role, this is not hands-on; you will primarily be office-based, managing and supervising subcontractors, writing and controlling permits, and acting as the on-site custodian to maintain compliance and safety standards. A resilient, assertive personality is key, as you will be responsible for challenging contractors and ensuring quality is upheld across all projects.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate subcontractors delivering small works projects across the site.

Manage permits, isolations, and safe systems of work.

Supervise project activities, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency.

Take ownership of project completion within cost and time parameters.

Act as the link between engineering teams and contractors, ensuring smooth delivery.

What We’re Looking For

Strong electrical background – ideal for an experienced Electrical Engineer moving into a project-focused role.

Knowledge of LV/HV systems is advantageous (AP training can be provided).

Experience in contractor supervision and project engineering.
