12:30pm Were working with a leading food manufacturing business seeking a skilled Engineer to join their established team at their Gainsborough site. This is a key operational role responsible for maintaining and improving production assets to ensure the site runs safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities Reactive & Preventative Maintenance Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, identify root causes, and implement robust repairs to minimise downtime. Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules, ensuring high-quality completion and accurate documentation. Monitor machine performance to identify and resolve emerging faults early. Ensure all work complies with site safety rules, permit-to-work systems, and food safety standards. Equipment Installation & Commissioning Support installation and commissioning of new plant, machinery, and services. Work with project teams to integrate new equipment smoothly into production. Assist in testing, validation, and performance improvement of new machinery. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, reduce waste, and increase production efficiency. Collaborate with production colleagues to develop practical engineering solutions. Support initiatives to improve OEE through better machine performance and reduced breakdowns. Contribute to projects aimed at improving flow, reducing downtime, or automating processes. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure all work meets safety legislation, site procedures, and food safety standards. Manage risk assessments, permits to work, and contractor inductions to maintain compliance. Report hazards, incidents, and near misses proactively. Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records. Collaboration & Communication Build strong working relationships across production, technical, and operational teams. Provide technical support and training to colleagues as required. Communicate effectively during handovers, breakdowns, and planned maintenance. About You Essential Skills & Qualifications: Electrically qualified
City & Guilds / BTEC Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). 18th Edition (or willingness to achieve). Proven maintenance engineering experience within food manufacturing. Familiarity with PLC systems and control equipment. Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic welding. Strong understanding of H&S, risk assessments, and safe systems of work. Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills. Personal Attributes: Proactive, hands-on engineer who enjoys problem-solving.
