Due to the classified nature of the work, there are limited opportunities to work from home; the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time on site at AWE Aldermaston.Package: £30,750 - £37,000 per annum (depending on suitability, qualifications, and experience).Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. Main purposeProvide supervised electronic engineering capability to the Warhead Engineering sub-function in support of AWE programmes. ResponsibilitiesYou will work closely with experienced or senior engineers to learn practical engineering methods, tools, and processes.You will contribute to planning and executing tasks to deliver specific objectives on time, with control of cost and quality.You will support the progress of designs through the product lifecycle.You will understand hazards and associated risks and, where required, safely use specialised equipment. Within the role, responsibilities includeAssessment of new designs for suitability for service use.Delivery, assessment, and testing of warhead electrical/electronic systems and components.Test and assessment of components and systems as part of an ongoing surveillance programme.Specification of trials and surveillance activities.Engaging with US counterparts on surveillance and test activities. There may be occasional overseas travel. What we are looking forEssential qualifications and experienceA degree qualification (or equivalent, e.g. HNC plus vocational training) in electrical/electronic engineering, followed by relevant experience.Experience in designing, testing, and fault-finding electrical/electronic circuits, with ability to analyse and assess existing designs.Ability to use schematic capture, simulation, and/or PCB layout software packages.Competence in engineering applications e.g. 3D CAD, Circuit Design and Simulation, Programming. Training will be provided, with opportunities to study for further qualifications. You should be able to work calmly in a priority-changing environment, manage your own workload, show initiative, enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
