We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Network Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in network installations, troubleshooting, and support, who enjoys working in diverse environments and solving complex technical challenges.

Job Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points) across client sites.
• Perform network migrations, upgrades, and expansions, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to client operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues related to LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and network security systems.
• Provide on-site support for clients, acting as remote hands for network engineers and IT teams.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine network requirements and plan installations.
• Rack, stack, and cable network devices in data centres and client locations, ensuring neat and efficient setups.
• Test and validate network performance, performing diagnostics to ensure optimal operation.
• Ensure all work is completed according to client specifications, industry standards, and company guidelines.
• Work closely with remote teams to provide hands-on support for complex troubleshooting or network reconfiguration.
• Maintain thorough documentation of installations, changes, and issues for both internal records and client reports.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Field Network Engineer or similar role in IT networking.
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
• Experience with network technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Ubiquiti, and Meraki.
• Familiarity with LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VPNs, VLANs, and network security best practices.
• Experience working in data centres and with physical network setups (racking, stacking, cabling).
• Ability to perform site surveys and assess power, cooling, and space requirements.
• CCNA or equivalent certification (CCNP or other advanced certifications preferred).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
• Valid driver’s license with own car and willingness to travel to client sites as required.

What We Offer:
Wims Tech Solutions is offering positions on a zero-hours contract, operating outside IR35. Contracts may vary in duration, including same-day, next-day, or both short- and long-term engagements. Compensation will range between £175-£250 per day, determined by the scope of work (SOW) and the specific location
